THE INVISIBLE WAR – From Oscar® and Emmy®-nominated filmmaker Kirby Dick (This Film Is Not Yet Rated; Twist of Faith) comes THE INVISIBLE WAR, a groundbreaking investigative documentary about one of America’s most shameful and best-kept secrets: the epidemic of rape within the U.S. military. The film paints a startling picture of the extent of the problem – today, a female soldier in combat zones is more likely to be raped by a fellow soldier than killed by enemy fire. Twenty percent of all active-duty female servicewomen are sexually assaulted.
Profoundly moving, the film follows the stories of several idealistic young servicewomen who were raped and then betrayed by their own officers when they courageously came forward to report. Both a rallying cry for the hundreds of thousands of men and women who’ve been assaulted and a hopeful road map for change, THE INVISIBLE WAR is one of those rare films so powerful it has already helped change military policy.

Reality turns out to be stranger than fiction – and a source of inspiration – as Rousseau uncovers the truth about Candice’s past and her untimely death.

THE QUEEN OF VERSAILLES (also on Blu-Ray) – The Queen of Versailles is a character-driven documentary about a billionaire family and their financial challenges in the wake of the economic crisis. With epic proportions of Shakespearean tragedy, the film follows two unique characters, whose rags-to-riches success stories reveal the innate virtues and flaws of the American Dream. The film begins with the family triumphantly constructing the largest privately-owned house in America, a 90,000 sq. ft. palace. MUTANTES: PUNK, PORN, FEMINISM – What is a pornographic image? What is the right attitude for society to adopt toward sex? Is pornography an acceptable form of expression — and if so, can distinctions be drawn between different forms of pornography? This documentary raises all of these questions, seeking to provide the answers from the perspective of pro-sex feminism, which asserts that pornography must be wrested from patriarchal control, and that in the hands of women and sexual minorities, it can become a tool of liberation. Director Virginie Despentes (Baise-moi) takes a wide ranging look at the movement and maps the evolution of pro-sex, or ”post-porn”, with roughly two dozen interviews with the likes of B. Ruby Rich, Lydia Lunch, Annie Sprinkle, Catherine Breillat, Del La Grace Volcano, Maria Beatty, Coralie Trinh Thi, Carol Queen, Lynnee Breedlove, Norma Jean Almodovar, and other members of the post-porn movement, Mutantes is part of a very queer feminist revolution. Exploring in comprehensive fashion the various sexual niches of punk porn, queer porn, S&M, and transgender, the film goes a long way toward demystifying a movement that has been several decades in the making.
